Heading to StratLAN? Here’s everything you’ll want to pack, plus answers to the practical questions about sleeping over, power, showers and the kitchen. If in doubt, ask on Discord — we’re a friendly bunch.
Packing Checklist
For Gaming
- PC / laptop + power cable — please update your OS and games before you arrive
- Monitor + power and display cables
- Mouse (plus its wireless dongle, if wireless)
- Mouse pad
- Keyboard (plus its wireless dongle, if wireless)
- Console controllers
- Headset / headphones
- Carry bag or case
- A surge-protected extension strip (4-way or similar)
- Phone charging cable
- Optional: your comfy gaming chair
- Optional: a trolley to shift your gear — please pop it back in your transport during the event if you can
For Sustenance
- Cutlery and crockery
- Your own food
- Your own drinks
- Money!
For Sleeping
- Sleeping bag
- Pillow or cushion (a travel cushion is ideal)
- Ear plugs
- Airbed or camp bed
- Optional: a torch
For Camping
- Your tent
- Poles and pegs for said tent
Personal Hygiene
- Changes of clothes — the LAN hall can get really warm, or you might be sat under an aircon unit, so pack for both
- A towel for showering
- Toiletries: deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo — and, did we mention, deodorant
- Wet wipes
- Breath mints
- Any personal medication
What NOT to Bring
- Mains-powered fridges, heaters, fans or chairs
- A screen or TV larger than 36" across
- Desk-mount brackets for your monitor
- Speakers
Facilities & FAQ
We offer several sleeping options at StratLAN, and there are plenty of B&Bs and other options nearby in Stratford itself.
Indoor sleeping — There’s a dedicated space in the venue for indoor sleeping. Bring a camp bed, airbed or similar (single sized only, unless you’re sharing, as we’re limited on space). No tents or similar indoors, please. This option needs an add-on ticket as we have to limit numbers, and the exact location is confirmed near each event.
Outdoor camping — A free option with BYOC tickets. There’s a designated grassy area within the racecourse grounds for StratLAN attendees to set up tents and camp. No fires or BBQs, please. The exact location varies between events, so please check Discord for the camping map for each event.
Campervans / caravans — We do have some limited options for these — please contact us on Discord for details.
There’s normally a venue drinks chiller or fridge available in the kitchen (subject to availability — the fridge is sometimes unavailable, so please check the recent announcements for your event).
We provide a kettle and several microwaves for you to use, and we aim to have some basic consumables such as tea bags and sugar in the kitchen where possible.
Please remember to bring your own cutlery, dishes, mugs and glasses if you need them.
The usual BYOC power rules apply. You can connect your PC or console, plus a monitor, to the power. Please bring a surge-protected 4-way (or similar) — each person is provided with one socket.
Please don’t connect any other devices to the power supply, including mains-powered fans, heaters or cool boxes.
If you’re using indoor sleeping or outdoor camping, please remember to use the showers! They’re free to use — please try to keep them clean with the provided mop.
Gents showers are in the main toilet block on the ground floor. Ladies showers are the camping showers on the outside of the building — please follow the signs and head out via the kitchen back doors.
